i never claimed to be a good blogger!!!!

So yes, I am officially a BAD BLOGGER!!!! I never claimed to be good, who knows......maybe 2011 will be more motivation for me.  For now, we are trying to finish out 2010 strong.  We had a great time at Berkley's 1st birthday party.  We were overwhelmed by the number of people that came to celebrate with us.  She was quite the trooper and dug right into her cake.  She didn't quite get the hang of opening presents, but she loved them once I pulled them out for her.  Lots of her little friends came and it was fun to have them all under one roof.

After tomorrow, I am off for 2 weeks and Brian is taking the week off after Christmas to spend with us.  We will spend some time here with my family and then head down south to see his family for a few days.  Until then, I plan on sleeping in (ha ya right!), getting together with some good friends, and just enjoying time with Berkley.  I might even organize some things at home.  HA!!!  I'll TRY to do better, but there are no guarantee's these days.  This blogging thing just might not be for me!!

So excited about banana pudding

We were out to eat and Berkley was so happy about banana pudding! At one point she even grabbed the spoon and forced it to her mouth!

Brian's Jeep

Brian was feeling left out of the blog, so I thought I would post about his new hobby.  He likes to go "wheeling" at off road parks.  He frequents Bridgeport, but he also tried some trails while I was out of town in Gilmer.  I went one time in Bridgeport and i'm not going to lie, it's pretty intense.  While you are moving at a very slow pace while "climbing" its for sure an adreneline rush.  He enjoys going and can't wait for Berkley to get big enough for her off road carseat.

Trip to Corpus

Berkley is quite the world traveler.  We just got back from being in Corpus visiting Brian's family for a week and a half.  We went to a couple baseball games to watch the roughriders play, we went to the aquarium, but other than that, we just hung out and let her get spoiled by Brian's parents.  She had the best time with her Cousin Logan.  Logan just had to look at her and she would start laughing.
Berkley didn't do so hot with adjusting to sleeping in a new place and she had a pretty rough few nights at first and she didn't want to nap.  I guess she was afraid she would miss something.  While I was happy to spend time with Brian's family, being away from him for that long was hard.  He got there on friday the 2nd.  I will say that having the new iphone helped.  Love the face time, love the video capabilities and the better camera.  It was good for Brian to get to see her live like that and she would reach for the phone when she would hear his voice.  For the 4th, his parents had a party at the lake and the girls swam in the lake and we had fireworks that evening.
Berkley ddin't seem to mind the fireworks, as she was alseep inside, but my poor dogs were terrified. Even the deaf once wasn't so excited about it :) She did a good job posing for the camera in her little 4th of July dress, and partied hard most of the day.  The girl LOVES to be outside and her toes were wrinkled from the water.
While we were there, Berkley for sure started moving and we are no longer stationary.  I like to call it the army crawl right now, but she is getting faster by the day.  I have to keep my eyes at her at all times, which i don't mind, but I do miss the days where I could plop her anywhere and know she'll be there when I return!
Berkley had not seen Brian's dad (Papa) since February so she had grown so much and she didn't recognize him, but once she was around him more, she would reach out her arms to him. She liked him because he could just hold her and they would watch TV and he was known for putting her to sleep...whenever, wherever. Her YaYa spoiled her, as expected and she didn't want to leave. She didn't know what to do when she got home and wasn't being held all the time :) Her Aunt Stacey gave her her baths and fed her most of her meals, so mommy got spoiled too! It was hard to leave, but so good to get home after being gone so long!
On the way home, we stopped to meet Brian's grandparents for lunch.  They hadn't seen Berkley since Christmas!  We have been discovering new foods lately, and that day it was pickled okra.  While she didn't actually eat it, it kept her occupied and us entertained for most the lunch.  Her faces were awesome and she was for sure in exploration mode!  She didn't recognize Granny at first, but she eventually went to her so I could grab a picture. She had quite the conversation with PawPaw Synatzske and loved his glasses and was fasincated by his cane.  We probably won't see them again until Christmas, and she will for sure be walking by then!
Lastly when we got home, I couldn't keep Berkley still.  She was all over the place and while Brian and I were in the kitchen, she ended up under her walker and actually got herself out!  No stopping her now!
So as you can see, I got pretty lazy towards the end of this Blog.  I'm SUPER frustrated witht he fact that I made it look all pretty with the spacing and such and then when I preview it, it looks terrible!!!! Oh well, "you get what you get and you don't pitch a fit" as my nephew would say.  I guess, i'll get better.  Suggestions are welcomed and appreciated, for now, just be happy I actually posted pics!!!

Summer is here!

Summer is off to a great start and I am loving my time home with Berkley.  Last week we spent the week in Orlando and Berkley LOVED disney world.  The first flight there she was awake and happy the whole time.  Gone are the days of sitting still and just cuddling.  She puts her hands on anything and everything she can get to and was the life of the party at the back of the plane. The second flight left atlanta at 10:45 and she finally gave it up and went to sleep.  We actually arrived at our hotel at about 1:30 in the morning........talk about jacking up an infant's schedule!  She went right to bed, but was still up for the day at 6:30.....it was rough.  We spent our first day there at downtown disney and just relaxed a little at the hotel.  I knew the next few days would be a little crazy.  On Wednesday Berkley spent the day at Typhoon Lagoon with Nana (my mom) and caleb (her cousin) until I could get there with my volleyball team.  She LOVED the lazy river and the wave pool.  Thursday we went to Hollywood Sudios and it rained the whole time!  She enjoyed watching beauty and the beast, watched the muppet 3-D movie, and saw many  more attractions.  Friday she went to Blizzard Beach until the storm hit and then she came back to the hotel to swim with the volleyball girls and take a nap.  Magic Kingdom was the big event on saturday and she was a trooper.  She was in the park 12 hours! She was not fussy at all and enjoyed the rides she was able to go on.  Snow white, peter pan, dumbo, magic carpet, mary go round, pirates of the carribean, haunted mansion, buzz light year, and many more.  The movement sometime put her to sleep and then other time she talked to the characters :).

I was disappointed we didn't get to see the parade, as that was the main reason I love magic kingdom.  It was POURING and storming so bad that we had to leave and they cancelled the parade.  Berkley snuggled close to me and offered up her stroller for all of our bags so they would stay dry.  She was content in the baby bjorn and helped me hold the umbrella.  She was asleep before we got out of the parking lot.

She slept on the way home for the most part and was so excited to see her daddy!

On monday of this week, Berkley turned 7 months!  I cannot believe how fast time goes.  She is sitting up, pushing off, starting to pull up, eating real food, starting to baby babble, and is so much fun!  Brian and I often look at eachother and ask "what did we ever do without her?"  We are so blessed now that she is sleeping through the night, and she goes down to bed for her naps and nighttime so easily.  She is such a happy baby and it is hard to believe that her sweet self is going to enter the terrible two's, awkward middle school years, and the wonderful teenage years.  Can't we just freeze time now!

Tomorrow Brian and I celebrate 5 years of marriage.  5 YEARS!!!!!  Again, time has flown by.  Who would have thought 5 years ago that we would have a house, steady jobs, and a BABY.  We are so blessed!

Berkley and I head out on friday to go spend time with Brian's family for the week.  Brian will meet up with us the following weekend.  I am not super excited about spending another week away from him, but it will be so good for Berkley to get to spend time with them since we don't get to see them very often.

I am thankful for my job in that I have the summer to spend with Berkley.  Play dates, afternoons at the pool, naps together, lunches with Brian, random outings.......LOVE IT.

Eventually, i'll get to where I add pictures into these, but until then, you will have to rely on the pics on facebook.  Hey, its progress that I actually blogged at all!!!!! :)

gotta start somewhere

Ok, so I give up on going back and trying to update.  Many of you have followed me on facebook so you know the milestones, seen the pics, and so on.  I've decided to start where we are and maybe keep it up from here :).

I am loving being out for the summer and getting to spend time with Berkley.  She loves the pool and she is a great shopper! I'm afraid her first sentance might be......."Lets go to Target."  She also is such a trooper at the gym during my volleyball practices and all her caregivers that she has.  I don't want to say that we are spoiled just yet, but I am afraid we might be getting close.........

Berkley is quite the busy body.  She doesn't like to sit still and it makes me so sad that she doesn't want to cuddle anymore :(.  She is sitting up on her own and I am finally to the point where I can walk away from her and not worry she is going to fall over.  It is so much fun to watch her play and explore with toys out in front of her, or just with her hands and toes.  She is also very entertained by her puppies!  She is very close to crawling, but for now she rolls and rolls and rolls and rolls.

She has been sleeping through the night for almost 2 weeks.  I feel like a new woman!  I think her dad misses feeding her at 2am though!  I'm very blessed that she is a self soother and we are able to just say goodnight, start her sound machine and walk out the door.  Tonight she played witha  stuffed animal that was in there and then hummed herself to sleep.  It is so hard not to just watch the monitor all the time.

Next week Berkley gets to go to disney and I promise to start adding pics to the blog!  I hope she does as well on the plane as she did in Baltimore and more than anything I hope it doesn't disrupt our "schedule" so to speak, but I am sure we will adjust accordingly.

Promise to post soon..........
